SANITARY SEWER ISSUES
The Township is experiencing an escalating number of problems throughout the Township's sanitary sewer system. Sanitary sewer lines are becoming obstructed because of an increasing number of wipes, paper towels, and other materials being introduced into the sanitary sewer lines. Residents are asked to discard the materials in the trash rather than flushing them, placing the items in the basement floor drain, or in manholes. Continuing these practices may cause expensive sanitary sewer back-ups not only in your home, but in your neighbor's home as well. Residents are to contact South Park Township at 412-831-7000 with any questions or if they notice sewage smells or manhole problems.
PENNSYLVANIA AMERICAN WATER (PAWC) PIPELINE PROJECTS
PAWC will be upgrading infrastructure throughout the Township at the end of September through mid-November, 2020. Click here to view the projects. SOUTH PARK TOWNSHIP NAMED BANNER COMMUNITY FOR 2021
For the 8th year in a row, South Park Township has been awarded the status of Banner Community for 2020. Township officials are proud to share this information with our residents and thank them for supporting our community.
UTILITY WORK WITHIN TOWNSHIP ROADWAYS
As many Township residents are aware, a substantial amount of utility work was performed on Township roadways in 2019. Peoples Gas Co., Columbia Gas Co. and PA American Water Company were engaged in updating service lines in many neighborhoods. The projects were necessary to upgrade aging underground facilities that have the potential to disrupt the conveyance of natural gas and water to residential homes. Township officials would like to extend their thanks to the residents on the affected streets for their patience and cooperation during the construction activities. Residents are advised that all base repairs will be completed by the utility companies in the 2019 construction season. Base repairs mean the placement of asphalt on the roadway sections disturbed on the street by the construction activities. Street resurfacing will take place in 2020 which will allow for base repair settling and any additional utility repairs that may be required prior to the 2020 construction season.
